Finals Night / 2 April 2019

2019 Finals Day

The day started with the now “traditional” Copperstore tournament, where players turn up and get their handicap on the day. The semi-finals were Simon Morris vs Jai Nairn and Jason Van Der Westhuizen vs Alex Lane. Both were close but both Mozza and JV both won 15-12. The final saw Mozzarella kick up a gear after taking his drugs and saw off Jason to win the Copperstore.

Next up was the Over 60s. John Walker beat Tim Rimmer after a close 1st game and John upped the pace to win comfortably 3-0.

Meanwhile on the other court the over 65s were rolling back the years with Bruce Dilks just edging Robert Miles.

In the over 50s, Simon ‘leftie’ Barker beat Mark ‘Welsh’ Davies to avenge the rugby grand slam.

In the over 45s, Joseph Cup, Paul ‘RAF’ Partington played Martin ‘relaxed’ Brewin. In a tight first game Brewin edged it with the ninetieth boast of the game. Some what surprisingly the Brewin backwall boasts were minimal. Brewin went 2-0 up but then the collapse came. Partie winning the next 3 games taking the final game 15-13.

The Chase Cup, mens final, involved Spencer Bereford and Robert Vivian. It was a quality game of squash by two Veterans competing at the top level in the club. Rob took the lead and whilst Bez fought back Rob edged it to win 3-1. Rob last won the Chase Cup back in 1986!

The winners boards have been updated.
