Once again the club held the annual Xmas Racketball competition on Saturday 25th November.
We had a great afternoon of competition with 21 players competing in a Men’s and Ladies box league competition.
There was a really high standard, featuring novices Adam Brown and Alex Boughton who graced the occasion and never looked out of place. The Men’s semi-final was between John Cordeaux and Dave Spooner with John managing to win in a hotly contested match, Nick Sims prevailed in the other Semi beating Jon Hand who unfortunately had to retire with a calf strain.
The Men’s was won by John Cordeaux, runner up Nick Simms, it was both players 8th match of the afternoon!
The Ladies was won by Claire Spooner, with the runner up being Faye Brown, there was only 3 points between the top 2 ladies in their box league. We had a raffle at the end of the afternoon with some great prizes being donated by Tania Bailey:
New Unsquashable racket
3 squash racket grips
4 Dunlop squash balls
Head world tour squash bag
Women’s commonwealth games T Shirt
Men’s commonwealth games shorts
Bottle of Champagne
2 squash/racketball lessons from John Cordeaux
2 advanced peak squash booking slots
By the time the entry fees and the raffle had been added up the club had actually raised over £600.00 which we donated to Horncastle Squash club to help them with their refurbishment after being flooded in the recent storms. The players then retired to the ‘Jolly Brewer’ for a buffet and the odd drink or two!
